Can someone tell me differences between a Camaro and a Firebird?

Admit it. They look remarkably alike. So, other than one is a Chevrolet and one is a Pontiac, I'd like to know real differences. My boyfriend insists that the two are easily distinguishable. I get all confused.

All firebirds and camaros look exactly the same from the side. Therefore look at the nose and tail.



The Trans AM Firebirds have a "Screaming Chicken" on the hood (very large on 1970-1981 models) and all models have screaming chicken badges.



The 77-81 Firebirds have quad square headlights and resemble a batmobile. 1979-2002 firebirds have full width all red tailamps.

Camaros from 1974-2002 have rec-triangular tailamps.Many Camaros have amber turn signals in the tailamps.



All Firebirds from 1982-on have hidden headlamps and a pointed noise (bird like)



Smokey and the Bandit used Firebirds exclusively 1977-1982

Knightrider was a 1982 Firebird



Personally, I've always felt the Firebird is much better looking than the Camaro.

The classic pontiacs had a full graphic of a firebird on the hood - very distinguishable

Most of the newer firebirds made after 1982 have flip up headlights. Tail-lights on firebirds usually had horizontal lines more than camaros did. Best thing to do is search on the web for pictures and look and compare for yourself.

They are built on the same chassis and use many of the same parts, but what really distinguishes them are the grills, hoods, wheels, and interiors. Your boyfriend probably knows them well and can tell the difference even at a glance like myself. For someone not that interested in cars, they may look alike.

these cars are built by the same corporation. GM . they do bear a family resemblance. However if you were to see them side by side......you would be able to tell them apart from then on.
