Don't listen to those other 2 idiots. Chrysler DOES NOT own pontiac! It is DEFINITELY GM that owns pontiac!!!! Are people really that stupid?

But to answer your question.... yes, it is a final decision. And yes, you still will be able to get parts for your car.

As for the value of your car, I dont think it's going to decrease because its out of warranty anyway.

LOL@ these idiots saying Pontiac is part of the Chrysler division. You guys need to step the hell away from the PC or at least stay the hell OFF of the car sections of Yahoo Answers....freakin' idiots.

Pontiac is done, kaput, bye bye, gone. The value of your Grand Prix won't really change, and yes parts will still be readily available for your vehicle for many years to come.

The only good thing is that Pontiac is being shut down and not sold so if GM makes a miracle turn around(which won't happen) they could bring back the Pontiac name. I doubt that'll ever happen but at least they didn't sell the name.

I'm still laughing at these idiots saying Pontiac is part of Chrysler. That's bad...really bad. What's next? Lexus is made by Fiat?

Not yet but it's only a matter of time.

The value of your Pontiac decreases with usage.

There will be plenty of parts available for a long time through other GM divisions and through aftermarket suppliers. What won't be available for long are trim parts ( moldings, color coded items like door trim panels and carpets ) and body parts.

YES

They unloaded Oldsmobile YEARS ago and were not even hurting when they did it.

You will always have parts available, as Pontiacs are the same as most other GM cars under the skin. Even the GTO's have plenty of parts built in Australia by Holden.

General motors cannot reorganize fast enough to stop the billions of dollars money bleeding. Can you say a ZERO percent chance of GM not going bankrupt... Hummer gone Saab gone Saturn and Pontiac by 2010 Selling OPEL to Fiat? Soon all that will be left GMC Chevy Cadillac and Buick. I foresee a two brand structure in GM's future Chevrolet And the car luxury division of CADILLAC BUICK. You would have thought Pontiac being a performance division it would stay. As it turns out Chinese People really like Buick's. The automobile business is about to change thousands of people are going to be out of work. Unions Busted Parts suppliers throw out on there ears and no more dealerships on every corner. GM sent me a letter to take my car to any GM GMC dealer for warranty repair. Can you imagine a struggling dealership not being paid from corporate for work done under warranty? How likely are they to do a good job? Like a Chevy mechanic would know anything about A Australian GTO. Every new car I own I purchase the factory shop manuals. Being a Mechanic I do my own work. GMC dealers have all shop manuals on DVD. If I were you I would purchase the items you think you will need. Like suspension motor mounts strut mounts and extra A/C compressor and A/C parts.

They could change their choice, but it is unfortunately a good choice on their part to shut down some of their branches, and unfortunately Pontiac was one of the branches chosen.

But the value on your car will decrease as it will naturally. I don't see it plummeting just casue the company isn't around anymore. Your car is still the same car regardless if the company is still around or not, so it shouldn't affect your resale value.

As for the parts, they will still be available but may be more difficult to find parts for it. The difficulty to find parts will become harder to find as time goes on. But bottom line, they have parts for the Grand Prix and other popular models stock piled, that's why parts are ordered and replaced so quickly if your car broke down. Also just because Pontiac is gone, some other third party companies may pick up on producing replacement parts for your car.

actually Barrack Obama's plan to shut down pontiac is final. dont worry though, GM is still around to make the parts for it, its just a re-badged Chevy so you will still find parts anywhere.

First of all, it is 99% sure that Pontiac will be discontinued. The value of your car will not be impacted that much, in fact there may be a little bit of a bump in value as people try to get the last of the brand.

Parts will still be available. Many of the parts in a Pontiac are the same as in a Chevrolet, and there are going to be aftermarket parts available for years. You can still find parts for Oldsmobile, and that brand has been gone since after the 2004 model year.

As to those who say that Pontiac is part of Chrysler, "Here's your sign!!"

Chrysler = Chrysler Dodge and Jeep (Plymouth discontinued)

GM = Cadillac, Buick, Pontiac. GMC trucks, Chevrolet, Hummer, Saturn, and Saab (Oldsmobile Discontinued)
