Cover the basics Plugs and Wires, fuel filter. If that doesn't help check things like the MAF mass air flow sensor or other various sensors that could be causing this. Jerking and dying can also be caused by a faulty fuel pump.

GF did you run out of gas lately??!! get a fuel filter!! it prob takes at least 2 of them..

the engine is probably the 2.8L, that engine is pretty bulletproof, however it needs regular maintenance. sounds like spark plug wires to me. a full tune-up will fix that and probably more.
